Bithumb Establishes Metaverse Service Subsidiary 'BithumbMeta'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Bithumb, a leading domestic cryptocurrency exchange, announced on the 14th that it has established a subsidiary, 'Bithumb Meta,' to promote new business ventures. Bithumb Meta is expected to serve as an outpost providing new services including the metaverse.
Bithumb Meta was established at the end of February with a sole investment of 17 billion KRW from Bithumb Korea. Its purpose is planning, developing, and selling virtual asset systems and software, and it plans to offer various blockchain content services through partnerships with global companies in the future.
The platform developed by Bithumb Meta features a social-type metaverse that facilitates smooth interaction among users. Additionally, Bithumb Meta aims to enable various creator groups to freely utilize digital content produced within the platform, in line with the Web 3.0 era.
Bithumb Meta selected Unity as its first partner for building the social-type metaverse platform. Unity's technology is used in building well-known metaverse platforms such as Meta's 'Horizon Worlds' and Naver Z's 'Zepeto,' as well as in various industries.
