Pearl Abyss Appoints COO Heo Jin-young as New CEO
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Pearl Abyss announced on the 14th that CEO Jeong Gyeong-in will step down after completing his six-year term.
According to the company, CEO Jeong joined Pearl Abyss in 2016, took the company public on KOSDAQ in 2017, and increased sales by 18 times over six years.
Pearl Abyss held a board meeting on the 11th and appointed Chief Operating Officer (COO) Heo Jin-young as the next CEO.
COO Heo oversees Pearl Abyss's game services and operations and is regarded as a hands-on leader.
A Pearl Abyss official stated, "He is expected to be the new leader who will drive new leaps and growth with upcoming titles such as Red Desert, Dokkaebi development, and the launch of Black Desert Mobile in China."
COO Heo, a graduate of Korea University with a degree in Physics, previously served as Head of Community at SK Communications, Head of Game Services at Daum Communications, and Head of Game Division at Kakao.

COO Heo is scheduled to be officially appointed as CEO following approval at the regular shareholders' meeting at the end of this month.
