[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced on the 14th that it will begin operating 729 vocational training courses at the 2022 Women New Work Centers to enhance the employment capabilities of career-interrupted women and cultivate professional personnel.
The New Work Centers are institutions that provide comprehensive employment support services such as vocational education and training, internships, job placement, and follow-up management for career-interrupted women and others. As of March, 158 centers are in operation. In 2020, the completion rate of vocational training courses at the New Work Centers reached 95.5%, and the employment rate was 73.8%.
This year, the Ministry will operate promising vocational education and training courses at 158 New Work Centers, including high value-added, company-customized, and specialized technical courses that respond to changes in industry and the labor market. Approximately 14,000 career-interrupted women and others will participate in the free training programs at the New Work Centers.
This year, 62 courses in high-skilled and high value-added training such as data analysis, software development, intellectual property strategy, and pharmaceutical quality management will be expanded not only in the metropolitan area but also at the regional level.
To resolve supply-demand mismatches, 177 company-customized courses that proactively reflect regional industrial characteristics and corporate manpower demands, linking course completion with employment, will also be operated. These include courses linked with tax accountant and legal affairs offices, management support accounting clerks, and specialized fields in labor administration.
Additionally, 83 specialized technical courses enabling career-interrupted women and others to enter quality private sector jobs will be offered. These include intellectual property expert courses, comprehensive quality management courses, and basic electrical female expert training courses for the shipbuilding industry.
Starting this year, the Ministry will pilot the establishment of regional training course development teams centered on metropolitan New Work Centers to develop training occupations and programs based on regional demand surveys.
As the proportion of non-face-to-face training has increased due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the online learning management system will also be expanded. Online educational content in digital and new technology fields, as well as job courses with high demand from women and companies, will increase to a total of 38 courses this year. The online-plus courses, which combine online and offline methods to conduct theory and field practice, will be expanded to 353 courses this year.
The 'Multi-Ministry Collaborative Employment Support Service,' which integrates and links specialized personnel training education tailored to each ministry's characteristics with the New Work Centers' employment support services, will be expanded to 11 courses across 8 ministries, accommodating 2,500 people this year. Vocational education and training at the New Work Centers can be applied for online via the representative phone number or the New Work Center website.
