The Saetteul Village Project is a regional happiness living zone project promoted by the government since 2015, which supports 70% of the project cost with national funds to establish living infrastructure such as disaster, hygiene, and safety, and to improve residential environments.
Yeongyang-gun has participated in the contest project since 2017, with 1 site selected in 2017, 2 sites in 2019, 2 sites in 2020, and 2 sites in 2021.
In preparation for this year's new contest project, resident briefings have been held since November last year, and a village promotion committee was formed.
The Hwacheon 2-ri district in Yeongyang-eup, selected as the project target area, had densely packed old houses and very narrow village roads that fire trucks could not enter, indicating a lack of basic infrastructure. It has been a region vulnerable to various disasters, causing great inconvenience to residents.
The county plans to invest a total project cost of 1.9 billion KRW over four years from this year to 2025 to promote safety infrastructure maintenance, living landscape environment improvement, housing maintenance support, human care, and capacity-building projects.
