View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] Choi Jaesung, former Senior Secretary for Political Affairs at the Blue House, commented on voices within the Democratic Party calling for former presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung to be appointed as the emergency committee chairman, saying, "Asking him to immediately take on the role of emergency committee chairman is not only harsh but also unreasonable."
Former Secretary Choi said on Facebook that day, "It is an embarrassing matter for the public and a harsh one for supporters and party members," expressing his view.
He opened by saying, "'Lee Jae-myung as emergency committee chairman' is too harsh a suggestion," adding, "He was a candidate who lost by a narrow margin." He continued, "As with all elections, the candidate was the most desperate and gave his all. The pain and despair are inevitably deep," and added, "The candidate bears the greatest responsibility."
Former Secretary Choi also pointed out, "Unless it is some political calculation, it is hard to understand," and criticized, "I don't know why such a cruel and groundless claim is made that even takes away the time to regain strength."
Furthermore, he said, "The time for the party and the public to call upon Lee Jae-myung as a standing advisor is not far off," and added, "For the time being, regarding politics, it is enough to maintain silence and stillness rather than making a few words."
Finally, former Secretary Choi addressed the former candidate, saying, "It is necessary to tell him and ourselves to rest and stop hurting, at least until the congestion clears and the tears dry," and concluded by saying, "If the emergency committee oversteps, it will become even more difficult."

Earlier, on the 13th, Yoon Hojung, co-chairman of the emergency committee, held a press conference to announce the committee appointments. Park Jihyun, an activist from the 'Bulkkot' group tracking the Nth Room case and vice-chair of the party's Women's Committee, was appointed as a co-chair of the emergency committee. Other members joining as emergency committee members included Kim Taejin, former co-chair of the Gwangju election campaign committee; Kwon Jiwoong, former youth election campaign chairman; Chae Ibae, former chairman of the fair market committee of the election campaign; former lawmaker Bae Jaejung; and lawmakers Cho Eungcheon and Lee Soyoung.
However, criticism continues from some within the party regarding the 'Yoon Hojung co-chair emergency committee system.' Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Dugwan emphasized on Facebook, "Yoon Hojung should resign as emergency committee chairman, and Lee Jae-myung should lead the local elections."
Lawmaker Kim said, "Co-chair Park Jihyun is an excellent appointment. Some fresh figures are also visible. But without Yoon's resignation, it is useless," and stressed, "Yoon should step down, and former candidate Lee must run in the local elections in some form to lead victory."

Democratic Party lawmaker Lee Sujin also posted on Facebook, arguing, "Lee Jae-myung's emergency committee is the party's path to unity." He pointed out, "The call for Lee Jae-myung's emergency committee was based on the intention that for the Democratic Party to responsibly carry out the great transformation of Korea that former candidate Lee sought during the presidential election, bold innovation within the party is necessary," and criticized, "Yoon Hojung's emergency committee is not only insufficient to carry out this task but also inappropriate."
