Shinhan Bank Launches First Beta Service of Metaverse Platform 'Shinhan Metaverse'
First Financial Sector's Own Metaverse Platform Goal
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Shinhan Bank announced on the 14th that it will conduct the first beta service for customers of its self-developed metaverse platform, 'Shinhan Metaverse (tentative name),' the first of its kind in the financial sector.
Shinhan Metaverse was developed with the vision of expanding and connecting financial and non-financial areas to provide customers with new experiences and intuitive services in a virtual space. The map is composed by connecting block-based boards in various forms, allowing continuous spatial expansion as content is added in the future.
Additionally, it is implemented based on public cloud, enabling simultaneous access by many users, and has built an environment accessible via web without the need for separate application installation, enhancing accessibility. Until the official service launch, it plans to provide more stable service by establishing a financial sector enterprise environment based on Amazon Web Services (AWS) public cloud.
In this beta service, users can experience spaces such as 'Square' for gatherings and relaxation, 'Branch,' a bank branch modeled after the Seosomun Digilog Branch, 'Baseball Stadium,' where events are held in collaboration with the KBO, and 'Store,' a GS25 convenience store where actual purchases are possible.
In particular, the Store is strategically linked with GS25 to display and allow purchase of real convenience store products. The platform also offers mini-games such as 'Solrae Catch,' where users catch randomly appearing Shinhan Bank characters, 'Quiz Box,' which gives coffee coupons with a certain probability when users solve quizzes from randomly appearing quiz boxes, and 'Ground Battle,' a simple fighting game enjoyed inside the baseball stadium.
By enjoying various content and mini-games within the Shinhan Metaverse platform, users earn virtual currency called 'Gold.' During the event period, prizes will be awarded to 1,000 people based on the Gold ranking, including a MacBook Pro (1 person), iPhone Pro (2 people), Apple Watch (7 people), AirPods Pro (10 people), and Shinsegae gift certificates. Customers who do not rank within the top 1,000 but earn more than 300 Gold will be automatically entered into a lottery event. Prizes will be given to a total of 2,022 people, including Galaxy Z Flip3 (1 person), Galaxy Tab (1 person), and Baskin Robbins ice cream (2,020 people). Additionally, 4,000 people will receive Starbucks Americano coupons through the aforementioned Quiz Box.
Shinhan Metaverse can be accessed by anyone without a separate registration process until the 21st, by choosing a convenient login method among Google, Apple, or KakaoTalk for simple login authentication. Operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
