Seocho District Council, Chairman Kim Ik-tae and Operations Committee Chairwoman Jeon Kyung-hee Re-elected
Former Chair Kim Ansuk, who lost her position due to a vote of no confidence, and former Operations Committee Chair Jang Okjun, who returned to office after a suspension injunction was granted, face another vote of no confidence just one day after reinstatement.
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] The Seocho District Council (Chairman Kim Ik-tae) re-elected Chairman Kim Ik-tae and Operations Committee Chair Jeon Gyeong-hee, both members of the People Power Party, at the first plenary session of the 314th extraordinary meeting on the 11th.
This occurred just one day after former Chairman Kim An-sook and former Operations Committee Chair Jang Ok-jun, who had lost their positions due to a vote of no confidence, returned to their posts following the acceptance of their injunction applications to suspend execution.
The council had passed a vote of no confidence against former Chairman Kim An-sook and former Operations Committee Chair Jang Ok-jun at the first plenary session of the 312th extraordinary meeting on February 7. Subsequently, new chairman and operations committee chair were elected. In response, former Chairman Kim An-sook and former Operations Committee Chair Jang Ok-jun filed injunction applications with the Seoul Administrative Court against the vote of no confidence and the election of the new chairman and operations committee chair, receiving a partial acceptance ruling on March 10.
Although former Chairman Kim An-sook and former Operations Committee Chair Jang Ok-jun resumed their duties immediately following the ruling, a vote of no confidence against the chairman and operations committee chair was passed again at the plenary session scheduled for the following day, the 11th, leading to a by-election.
As a result of the election, Chairman Kim Ik-tae and Operations Committee Chair Jeon Gyeong-hee were re-elected.
