Jeongeup-si Applies for 130 Billion KRW Budget for 2023 Agriculture, Forestry, Livestock, and Food Projects
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province announced on the 11th that it plans to apply for a total of 130 billion KRW for 50 projects under the 2023 Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock Food Projects.
The Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock Food Projects are government-supported initiatives aimed at promoting agricultural and rural development through rural structural improvement and contributing to increasing farm household income.
This year, Jeongeup City's budget application amounts to 130 billion KRW, including many projects with high policy effectiveness relative to budget input and that can increase farmers' satisfaction.
By sector, there are 10 projects in the crop farming sector totaling 5.5 billion KRW, 8 projects in the livestock sector totaling 34.8 billion KRW, 19 projects in the forestry and distribution sector totaling 12 billion KRW, and 13 projects in the policy sector totaling 77.7 billion KRW, making a total of 50 projects.
Earlier, from January 27 to February 18, the city received project applications from agricultural-related organizations such as eup, myeon, dong (township-level administrative units) and the Korea Rural Community Corporation through a public announcement.
Then, on the 10th, the city held the "Agriculture, Rural and Food Industry Policy Deliberation Committee," composed of 30 experts including the Jeongeup mayor and heads of agricultural organizations, to review and approve the national budget applications for agriculture, forestry and livestock food projects for the next year.
The projects selected through this deliberation will be reflected in next year's projects after review and approval by Jeonbuk Province and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
A city official said, "Based on the results of the policy deliberation committee, we will make every effort to secure the national budget to attract major pending projects suitable for local conditions. Through this, we aim to not only increase farm household income but also lay the foundation for long-term regional agricultural development."
