[Yoon Seok-yeol Elected] Yoon Seok-yeol "The Transition Committee Will Be Launched Soon"... Emphasizing 'Small Scale and Efficiency'
"No Time to Consider Transition Team"... Swift Formation Announced
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] Yoon Seok-yeol, the president-elect of the 20th Republic of Korea, promised regarding the formation of the Presidential Transition Committee, "I will plan it as soon as possible and launch it so that the public does not feel uneasy." He emphasized efficiency by stating that the transition committee will be organized as a 'small-scale organization.'
On the morning of the 10th, after delivering his victory speech at the National Assembly Library Auditorium, Yoon said in a Q&A session with reporters, "I have not yet had time to think about the transition committee."
He explained, "The secretariat for the president-elect involves launching and supporting the transition committee over two months, so it should be organized quickly on a small scale and efficiently to support the committee and perform the initial role of verifying key personnel."
He added, "I heard that such preparations are often made during the election campaign period, but due to circumstances, we could not do so. We will proceed swiftly."
The transition committee for the formation of the Yoon Seok-yeol government is expected to be launched as early as late next week. Typically, the transition committee is formed within 2 to 3 weeks after the election, but this year, the launch may be expedited due to the COVID-19 situation and other factors.
