"Sorry"... 70-Year-Old YouTuber Suspected of Assaulting Song Young-gil with a Blunt Object Appears for Warrant Hearing
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] Pyo Mo (70), a YouTuber who struck Song Young-gil, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, with a blunt weapon at a campaign site, appeared in court on the 9th to undergo a pre-trial detention hearing (warrant review). He repeatedly said "I'm sorry" to Representative Song.
At around 2:25 p.m. that day, Pyo appeared at the Seoul Western District Court to attend the warrant review hearing. When reporters asked, "Do you have any remorse toward Representative Song?" he said "I'm sorry" three times. He entered the court without answering questions about his motive, prior planning, or reasons for refusing to testify.
The Seoul Western District Court began Pyo's pre-trial detention hearing at around 3 p.m. that day. The decision on whether to detain Pyo will be made later that afternoon.
Pyo is accused of striking Representative Song's head multiple times with a blunt weapon at a campaign rally in front of Sinchon U-Plex in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, at around 12:05 p.m. on the 7th. It is reported that immediately after hitting Representative Song, Pyo shouted, "I oppose the South Korea-U.S. military exercises."
