Seoul COVID-19 Cases Surpass 70,000... 20,000 Increase in 5 Days

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The number of daily confirmed COVID-19 cases in Seoul has surpassed 70,000 for the first time, marking an all-time high.

On the 9th, the Seoul city government announced that the number of new confirmed COVID-19 cases on the 8th was 74,222.

This is 14,953 more than the previous record of 59,269 cases on the 3rd. In just five days, the number of confirmed cases surged from the 50,000 range to the 70,000 range.

Compared to 37,484 cases on the previous day (7th), the number has doubled. Compared to 46,933 cases a week ago on the 1st, it is about 1.6 times higher.

The daily number of confirmed cases in Seoul first exceeded 10,000 on the 8th of last month. On the 6th and 7th, the number dropped to the 30,000 range due to the weekend effect, but the number of tests on the 7th (184,786) doubled compared to the previous day (90,099), and the confirmed cases on the 8th jumped to the mid-70,000 range.

Among the confirmed cases, those aged 10 and under accounted for 21.07%. By age group, confirmed cases were 20s (19.00%), 30s (16.71%), 40s (14.88%), 50s (12.20%), teens (11.69%), 60s (9.77%), 9 and under (9.38%), and 70 and over (6.37%) in order.

Including those in home treatment and hospitalized patients, the total number of isolated confirmed cases is 851,572. The number of deaths increased by 23 in one day, bringing the cumulative total to 2,630. As of midnight on this day, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Seoul is 1,207,803.
