Hoban Scholarship Foundation Awards 700 Million KRW in Scholarships to Over 260 Students

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Kim] Hoban Scholarship Foundation announced on the 8th that it held the ‘2022 Hoban Scholarship Award Ceremony’ at Hoban Park Building 2. The ceremony was attended by foundation officials including Kim Sang-yeol, Chairman of Hoban Scholarship Foundation; Kim Seon-gyu, Chairman of Hoban Group; Woo Hyun-hee, Chairman of Hoban Cultural Foundation; and Kim Dae-heon, Chief Planning Officer of Hoban Group, along with representative scholarship students.
This year, Hoban Scholarship Foundation is providing scholarships to about 260 students. The foundation has expanded support in various categories, including the ‘Hobanhoe Scholarship’ which supports students for four years of university, ‘Regional Talent Scholarship,’ and ‘Scholarship for Children of Injured Firefighters.’ In particular, the foundation has increased scholarships to assist students in the blind spot between 50% and 100% of the median income. The total scholarship fund this year amounts to 700 million KRW.
Kim Sang-yeol, Chairman of Hoban Scholarship Foundation, said, “Despite the difficulties in focusing on studies due to COVID-19 and other challenges, seeing the eyes of scholarship students who hold a vision for the future makes me hopeful for our country’s future,” and added, “I hope the support from Hoban Scholarship Foundation will serve as a foundation for them to move toward their goals.”

Established in 1999 by Chairman Kim Sang-yeol’s private donation, Hoban Scholarship Foundation has been steadily conducting scholarship programs, talent development, and academic research support projects. Over 23 years, the foundation has supported about 8,600 scholarship students, with total scholarships amounting to 14.8 billion KRW.
