Uniqlo: Clothes Are Essentials... Continuing Store Operations in Russia
As global clothing companies withdraw from the Russian market, Japanese fashion brand Uniqlo has decided to stay, AFP reported on the 7th (local time).
On the same day, Tadashi Yanai, chairman of Fast Retailing, which operates Uniqlo, said, "War must never happen," but added, "Clothing is an essential item, and Russian people have the right to live just like us." Fast Retailing also stated, "We will continue to monitor the situation," but "there are currently no plans to suspend operations." Uniqlo currently operates 49 stores in Russia.
Uniqlo's announcement contrasts with those of competitors in the same industry.
