Seoul Dragon City, composed of four brands from the French global hotel chain Accor, explained that it is participating in environmental protection by practicing Accor's sustainable development campaign, "Planet 21." As part of Planet 21, the toothpaste and toothbrush sets that were provided free of charge in all rooms have been offered only to guests who want them for a fee since May last year. This reflects the "Less waste" philosophy to reduce unnecessary waste output, and guests who need toothpaste and toothbrushes can donate from a minimum of 1,000 KRW or any amount they wish.
Seoul Dragon City donated part of the amount collected from the paid provision of toothpaste and toothbrushes to the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation on the 24th of last month. This year, they plan to continue the paid provision of toothpaste and toothbrushes and the donation of proceeds. The donations will be used to improve the living environment of children.
In addition, various eco-friendly activities are being promoted. Environmentally certified kitchen detergents and laundry detergents from Ministry of Environment-certified companies are provided in the residence hotels "Grand Mercure" and "Novotel Suites" rooms. Guests at "Grand Mercure" can use wooden pencils instead of ballpoint pens. Amenities provided in some rooms of "Novotel" and "Novotel Suites" are packaged in stone paper, which is paper made from stone, and some rooms of "Novotel," "Novotel Suites," and "Ibis Styles" offer reusable dispenser amenities.
Eco-friendly activities continue outside the rooms as well. Plastic straws, which take a considerable time to decompose, have been replaced with eco-friendly straws that biodegrade naturally, and cage-free eggs laid by free-range chickens are used in cooking. With growing public interest in eco-friendly vehicles, more than 20 electric vehicle charging stations have been installed in the underground parking levels 2 and 3.
