S-Oil Supports Migrant Women Victims of Domestic Violence Ahead of International Women's Day
"70 Million KRW Donated to Korea Migrant Women’s Human Rights Center
Used for Supporting Independence of Women Leaving Center Shelter"
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] S-OIL announced on the 7th that it delivered a donation of 70 million KRW to the Korea Migrant Women’s Human Rights Center at its headquarters in Gongdeok-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, to help migrant women victims of domestic violence. This support was made in celebration of the 37th International Women's Day the following day.
The Center, established in 2001, is a non-profit private organization that provides counseling, education, and psychological therapy activities for migrant women residing in Korea. It operates a shelter for migrant women and their children who are victims of domestic violence. The donation from S-OIL will be used to support daily necessities for migrant women leaving the shelter to become independent, and to support professional counseling workers who are migrant women themselves, specializing in interpretation and translation to assist with legal counseling and social reintegration.

Since 2013, S-OIL has been the first private company to start sponsorship, donating a total of 520 million KRW over 10 years. An S-OIL official said, "We will support migrant women to live happily as members of the local community," adding, "During a time when everyone is facing difficulties due to COVID-19, we will continue social contribution activities to be a source of strength for neighbors in need."
