US Secretary of State "Discussing Ban on Russian Crude Oil Exports with Europe"
[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blinken stated on the 6th (local time) that one of the additional sanctions against Russia, which invaded Ukraine, is currently being discussed with European allies regarding a ban on Russian crude oil exports.
In an interview with CNN on the same day, Secretary Blinken said, "We are adding sanctions against Russia every day."
He explained, "Yesterday, I had a phone call with President Joe Biden and cabinet members specifically about this issue," adding, "We are currently discussing cooperation measures with European allies on banning Russian crude oil exports." He continued, "We are ensuring that there is sufficient crude oil supply in both markets," and added, "This issue is being actively discussed."
Additionally, Secretary Blinken commented on the International Criminal Court (ICC) beginning an investigation into war crimes occurring in Ukraine, stating, "We have seen very credible reports that Russia deliberately attacked civilians in Ukraine," and asserted, "This meets the criteria for war crimes."
He said, "Winning battles does not mean winning the war, and occupying cities does not mean that Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, wins the hearts of the Ukrainian people," adding, "Rather, President Putin is destined to lose."
Secretary Blinken, who is visiting Europe, is scheduled to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on the 8th.
