[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] President Moon Jae-in on the 5th instructed to consider declaring the wildfire-affected areas as special disaster zones.
On the same day, President Moon received a report on the wildfire situation from the head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters and instructed, "While making every effort to extinguish the fire early, consider declaring the affected areas as special disaster zones to enable rapid recovery and damage support."
He continued, "The government, centered on the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters, should mobilize all available resources, including helicopters owned by agencies and local governments, to swiftly extinguish the wildfire, and do their utmost until the end to prevent re-ignition or spread to neighboring areas."
Additionally, President Moon instructed, "Immediately review and implement measures for the livelihood and stability of affected residents, such as temporary modular housing support for evacuees and farming support measures during the farming season," and conveyed his condolences to the affected residents.
