He stated, "In this democratic republic where one person has one vote, it is not the political acts of politicians but the collective intelligence of our people that will determine our fate and future," appealing, "I trust the people. I trust history."
On the 3rd, at a 'Women-Focused Rally' held at Bosingak in Jongno, Seoul, Lee seemed to target opposition party unification, saying, "Politics is not done by politicians but by the people themselves." He also urged his supporters to unite. He said, "If each of you, the owners of this country, secures one more supporter and persuades even one more person, the history of the Republic of Korea will develop as the people desire and as history commands."
Lee said, "By trusting the people and history, and by steadfastly pursuing politics focused on people's livelihood, the economy, peace, and unity, I will firmly create a future Korea that is a hopeful country where the sovereignty of the people is truly respected in a democratic republic."
