Yoon Seok-yeol Up 3.1%p Since Last Survey... Lee Jae-myung Up 1.1%p
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] On the 3rd, just before the ban on publishing presidential election opinion polls, a survey result showed that the gap in approval ratings between Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, and Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, widened beyond the margin of error.
On that day, Realmeter conducted a next presidential candidate approval rating survey commissioned by OhmyNews from February 28 to March 2, targeting 3,037 people aged 18 and over nationwide. Candidate Yoon recorded 45.1%, while candidate Lee recorded 40.6%. Compared to the previous survey (4th week of February, February 24-27), Yoon's rating rose by 3.1 percentage points, and Lee's rating increased by 1.1 percentage points.
The gap between the two candidates increased by 2.0 percentage points from the previous week to 4.5 percentage points, which was outside the margin of error (±1.8 percentage points at a 95% confidence level).
Following them, Ahn Cheol-soo of the People’s Party dropped by 1.5 percentage points to 7.1%, and Sim Sang-jung of the Justice Party rose by 0.1 percentage points to 1.9%. Other candidates accounted for 1.3%, none for 2.6%, and don’t know/no response for 1.3%.
By region, Yoon’s approval ratings were high in Seoul (47.4%), Gangwon (46.3%), the Chungcheong region (46.0%), Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (51.5%), and Daegu and Gyeongbuk (61.8%). His approval rating in the Honam region was 20.6%.
By age group, the 20s showed the closest race between Yoon (37.1%) and Lee (34.4%). Additionally, in their 40s (52.7%) and 50s (50.7%), more respondents supported Lee, while in their 60s (57.3%) and 70 and older (61.7%), support for Yoon was higher.
In response to the question about the likelihood of winning the presidential election, Yoon rose by 0.4 percentage points from the previous survey to 48.5%, while Lee fell by 0.2 percentage points to 43.6%, making the gap between the two candidates 4.9%, which was outside the margin of error.
Following them, Ahn rose by 0.3 percentage points to 2.1%, and Sim rose by 0.3 percentage points to 0.9%.
