On the 2nd, Gas Corporation announced that it will form and operate a 'Task Force (TF) dedicated to discovering Australian Clean Hydrogen Projects.' Previously, the government announced plans to secure 1.96 million tons annually of overseas green hydrogen by 2030 and 22.9 million tons annually by 2050 to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Accordingly, the corporation selected securing 1 million tons, which is 51% of the national overseas green hydrogen target by 2030, as a priority task and has been reviewing strategic regions such as Australia and the Middle East.

President Chae Hee-bong personally led the TF and stayed in Australia for 15 days from the 16th of last month until this day, seeking local partners and business cooperation opportunities in fields related to green hydrogen production, such as renewable energy and water electrolysis. To this end, he held meetings with 19 local organizations and Australian government officials and conducted six site visits. A corporation official said, "Taking this business trip as an opportunity, we will actively proceed with feasibility studies for green hydrogen import and investment projects in Australia."
