Sim Sang-jung: "Daegu is a Bastion of Democracy, Please Prevent Regression"
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] Sim Sang-jung, the Justice Party presidential candidate, visited Daegu and urged, "Please prevent historical regression."
On the 26th, Candidate Sim visited the site of the Daegu subway fire disaster and said, "In a few days, the 2·28 Democratic Movement memorial ceremony will also be held here," adding, "Daegu is called a stronghold of conservatism, but originally it was a bastion of democracy. I ask the citizens of Daegu to stand at the center of preventing historical regression in the presidential election."
She especially noted, "No matter how much time passes, the hole pierced in the hearts of those who lost family and friends cannot be filled," and added, "Only when there is trust in a safe society where such disasters never recur can the sorrow be resolved." She continued, "There are 2,000 people per year who go out to work and do not return," pointing out, "South Korea is the world's 10th largest advanced economy, yet people go to work and die crushed, fall to their deaths, or burn to death."
