Goheung-gun Provides Half-Price Fare Support for Passenger Ships on Nokdong~Geomeon Route
Temporary Increased Discounts for Seniors and Disabled with Overlapping Benefits from March to Year-End
[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] Goheung-gun announced that starting from March, passengers can receive a 50% discount on ferry fares operating from Nokdong New Port in Doyang-eup to Geomundo, Yeosu.
According to the county, from March 1 until the end of this year, a temporary 50% discount on ferry fares for the Nokdong-Geomun route will be provided to all citizens, with Goheung-gun and Jeollanam-do covering 40% and the ferry company covering 10%.
Additionally, since the fare discount can be combined with other benefits such as senior citizen and disabled discounts, the actual discount rate is expected to be even greater.
However, the half-price discount will not apply during weekends, public holidays, and the peak summer passenger express period.
Currently, three ferries operate on the Nokdong-Geomun route: the high-speed ferry "First Queen," and the car ferry-type passenger ships "Pyeonghwa Ferry 11" and "Three Island."
A county official stated, “Through this discount policy, we expect not only to improve tourism conditions on the Nokdong-Geomun route, which has been stagnant due to COVID-19, but also to promote regional economic revitalization.”
