Gwangju University Advances to Spring College Football Federation Finals... Challenging for 2nd Consecutive Title

On the 24th, Gwangju University advanced to the finals after drawing 1-1 with Dong-eui University in the semifinals of the 58th Spring College Soccer Federation Tournament Tongyeong Cup held at Sanyang Sports Park in Tongyeong, Gyeongnam, and winning 4-3 in the penalty shootout.
Gwangju University fell behind after conceding an early goal to Dong-eui University in the 54th minute but equalized in the 69th minute with a goal by Kim Kyung-min, leveling the match before proceeding to penalties.
In the penalty shootout, first-year goalkeeper Jeon Byung-hoon stood out with his saves. Jeon blocked the shots from Dong-eui University’s first and fourth kickers, leading the team to victory.
Gwangju University will face Jungwon University at 12 noon on the 27th at Tongyeong Public Stadium for the final battle to claim the Tongyeong Cup championship. The final match will be broadcast live on SPOTV2 and Naver.
Meanwhile, Gwangju University established itself as the nation’s top team by winning the 57th Spring College Soccer Federation Tournament Hansan Battle Cup final in March last year, defeating Jeju International University 5-1. The team also won the championship in 2013, just five years after its founding.
