SK ICT Family Innovates New Developer Recruitment Process... Eliminates Document Screening
Hiring Entry-Level Developers Based on Coding Skills Instead of Self-Introductions
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] The SK Information and Communication Technology (ICT) family is abolishing document screening and introducing a new recruitment method focused on practical development capabilities to secure outstanding development talent.
On the 25th, SK Telecom announced that it will hire new developers with less than three years of experience together with SK ICT family companies such as SK Broadband, SK Shieldus, 11st, and FSK L&S. Recruitment will be conducted in three job fields: server and backend development managing servers and data, frontend and app development implementing screens for web and apps, and machine learning, data scientist, and data engineer roles. Machine learning and data scientists utilize statistics and machine learning technologies to work with data, while data engineers build systems for data collection, processing, and analysis.
The company is expanding the scale of new developer recruitment to provide the best service to customers. Additionally, it has abolished document screening and adopted a method that does not collect any information about applicants’ academic background, major, age, or gender. The practical evaluation focuses on verifying the applicant’s development capabilities and job suitability rather than their credentials.
Applicants can take the coding test for recruitment by entering their name, contact information, job field, and the order of preference for up to five companies within the job field they wish to apply to. Since applicants can apply to up to five companies based on the coding test results, the burden of taking the test is reduced.
The first test, which evaluates basic skills in algorithms and programming languages, will be held on the 12th of next month. Those who pass the first test will participate in the second coding test on the 19th of next month and then go through interviews conducted by the companies they passed to be hired. Applications are open from the 25th of this month until the 10th of next month.

Since last year, SKT has been recruiting new members through the ‘Junior Talent Recruitment’ (selecting applicants with less than three years of job experience) on a rolling basis. The selection focuses on attitudes and capabilities such as challenge spirit, perseverance, and passion rather than credentials or experience. Recruitment for other job fields outside of development is planned to be conducted in March.
