Choi Bong-gyu, CEO of Cheonil, Appointed as New President of Korea Federation of SMEs
The Central Association to Hold Inauguration Ceremony in Daejeon on the 24th
"Information Exchange and Collaboration Among Member Companies... Strengthening Competitiveness"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business Associations held the inauguration and retirement ceremony for the 12th and 13th central chairpersons on the 24th at the Daejeon ICC Hotel.
The event proceeded in the order of electing the new chairperson, holding the regular general meeting to approve the federation’s projects and budget, and the inauguration and retirement ceremony between former Chairperson Kang Seung-gu and new Chairperson Choi Bong-gyu.
About 200 guests including Kim Seong-seop, Regional Enterprise Policy Officer of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Seok Yong-chan, Chairman of the Korea Management Innovation Small Business Association, Jo Dong-wook, Chairman of the Korea Industry-Academia Cooperation Association, and representatives of member companies attended.
Former Chairperson Kang served as the 10th to 12th chairperson since 2014, elevating the Small and Medium Business Convergence Expo to a government-led event and establishing overseas federations to open paths for domestic member companies to explore foreign markets. He also expanded the government’s institutional support infrastructure, laying the foundation for a collaborative platform where member companies could share and experience the substance of technology convergence.
Choi Bong-gyu, CEO of Cheonil, was inaugurated as the 13th chairperson of the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business Associations. Chairperson Choi graduated from Kyung Hee University Graduate School of Media and Information and founded Cheonil Industrial in 1991 and Cheonil in 2010, currently serving as CEO.
Chairperson Choi stated, "Based on 31 years of management experience and 18 years of exchange and convergence activities with the federation, I will ensure that the federation and the 14 domestic and overseas federations can develop together."
He added, "I will promote information exchange among member companies and lead the strengthening of corporate competitiveness by establishing a new business model that enables mutual growth through systematic collaborative activities."
