Assemblyman Seodongyong: "A President Who Is a Political Prosecutor Unaware of the World Should Not Be"

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] The Democratic Party of Korea's Suncheon·Gwangyang·Gokseong·Gurye (Eul) Regional Committee (Chairman, National Assembly member Seo Dong-yong) held a joint campaign rally on the morning of the 24th at the Okgok 5-day Market, gathering around 200 people including current city and provincial council members, local election candidates, party members, and supporters.

National Assembly member Seo Dong-yong stated, “A person who has spent their entire life sitting in a prosecutor's office, interrogating criminals and thinking only about sending them to prison, someone who does not understand the ways of the world and only utters absurd stories, should not become president. The president must receive reports and make choices and judgments about which opinions are correct to prevent the country from falling into chaos, but candidate Yoon Seok-ryeol is a person incapable of such judgment.”

Seo said, “Candidate Yoon Seok-ryeol says he will investigate the Moon Jae-in administration if he becomes president. As a lawyer, I understand how frightening it is when a prosecutor says they will conduct an investigation. The prosecution conducted targeted investigations, conservative media mocked, and inflicted personal humiliation, which led to the departure of President Roh Moo-hyun 12 years ago. We cannot allow Moon Jae-in to be removed in the same way,” and urged, “Please make the choice to save and protect Moon Jae-in.”

He continued by citing the example of Brazil, a rising emerging economy that suffered tremendous economic setbacks due to political turmoil, saying, “If judges, prosecutors, and conservative media collude to ruin the country, it could become like Brazil.” He emphasized, “Please choose Lee Jae-myung, an economic president strong in crisis, not political prosecutor Yoon Seok-ryeol, so that the corrupt legal cartel does not destroy South Korea and reverse its growth.”

Seo added, “Many people have been worried because candidate Lee Jae-myung’s support was slightly low in polls, but judging by recent trends, he has caught up,” and appealed, “I ask the people of Honam to lend a little more support for Lee Jae-myung’s overwhelming victory.”
