On the 23rd, a petition titled "Where exactly should pregnant women in self-quarantine give birth?" was posted on the Blue House's public petition board. The petitioner, Ms. A, who identified herself as being 39 weeks and 5 days pregnant, urged, "Please let pregnant women give birth with peace of mind."
Ms. A said, "The obstetrics clinic I was attending told me that since it was a natural delivery and they didn't know when the baby would come, I should get PCR tests twice a week with my guardian starting from 38 weeks, and I tried to coordinate with my husband to get tested." She received a negative test result on the 21st, but her guardian husband was given an undecided notification and was later confirmed positive on a retest. Consequently, Ms. A underwent another PCR test and again received a negative result.
However, since Ms. A's cohabitant tested positive, she was classified as a self-quarantine subject. Ms. A stated, "There are only two days left until my due date. I have been trying all day, calling here and there to personally find out how to give birth while in self-quarantine," and added, "I called university hospitals, public health centers, and 119 emergency services."
She continued, "119 said that the public health center must secure a hospital bed at a university hospital for delivery to be possible, and they can only send an ambulance. The university hospital said admission is only possible if contacted by the public health center and that they absolutely cannot just accept patients on their own."
She also said, "According to the public health center staff, after checking various hospitals, university hospitals only accept COVID-positive patients, and those who test negative are not accepted. Private hospitals do not allow anyone in self-quarantine to enter, even if negative, and in case of labor pains or emergencies, they advise contacting 119 and going to a university hospital," and lamented, "In such a situation, are pregnant women supposed to give birth while wandering in an ambulance or on the streets?"
