Elderly Man in His 80s Found Dead on Street... "Tested Positive for COVID-19"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyungsoo] An elderly man in his 80s was found dead on a street in Gangdong-gu, Seoul. It was confirmed that he tested positive for COVID-19 postmortem.
On the 23rd, the Gangdong Police Station in Seoul reported that at around 2:31 a.m., they received a report from a passerby stating, "An elderly woman is collapsed with blood coming from her mouth."
Police and paramedics who responded to the report found an unconscious person in their 80s, identified as A, lying on the roadside in a residential area of Cheonho-dong, Gangdong-gu.
Paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on A and transported them to a nearby hospital. According to the hospital, A was presumed to have been deceased before arrival.
The hospital conducted a COVID-19 test on A, which confirmed a positive result. The fire department conducted rapid antigen tests on the personnel who had contact with A. It was found that a paramedic who performed CPR on A tested positive for COVID-19. They are currently awaiting the results after undergoing a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.
