30s Male Infected with HIV Causing AIDS on Trial for Daughter's Sexual Assault, Facing 'Parental Rights Termination'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A man in his 30s infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), which causes AIDS, was found to have lost parental rights while on trial for sexually assaulting his eight-year-old biological daughter.
According to the Daegu District Prosecutors' Office and Daegu District Court on the 23rd, the Daegu Family Court accepted the prosecution's request on the 22nd to revoke the parental rights of the biological father, Mr. A.
The prosecution requested the loss of parental rights for Mr. A to ensure the victim's emotional stability and prevent recidivism while indicting him.
The prosecution explained, "During the hearing of this case, we demonstrated the necessity of revoking parental rights for a parent who committed an inhumane sexual violence crime, and the court accepted this, allowing the parental rights to be promptly revoked."
Mr. A was brought to trial on charges of threatening and sexually assaulting his then eight-year-old biological daughter multiple times from February to March 2019.
It was investigated that Mr. A was aware of his HIV infection at the time.
