Jeju Island Expands Novavax Vaccine Inoculation to 161 Medical Institutions Across 25 Locations
Jeju Island to Expand Measures from the 7th of Next Month... Urges Pre-Reservation for Unvaccinated Individuals Aged 18 and Over
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Chang-won] Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 23rd that it will expand the number of designated medical institutions for Novavax vaccine inoculation to a total of 161 starting from the 7th of next month, following the start of Novavax vaccine administration on the 14th of this month.
Since the 14th of this month, Jeju Province has been administering the Novavax vaccine on the same day to high-risk groups and unvaccinated adults aged 18 and over for their primary vaccination (1st and 2nd doses).
As advance reservations became available for the general public starting from the 21st, reservations are being accepted through the COVID-19 vaccination website and phone reservations, similar to the existing mRNA vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna).
Same-day vaccinations are also being conducted at 25 designated delegated medical institutions within the province.
From the 7th of next month, the number of designated delegated medical institutions for same-day vaccination in Jeju will increase from the current 25 to a total of 161.
Unvaccinated individuals aged 18 and over can make advance reservations for leftover vaccines through the reservation website or via KakaoTalk and Naver.
Until the 6th of next month, before the reservation vaccinations begin, temporary same-day vaccinations are possible. However, if you visit a designated delegated medical institution for same-day vaccination, vaccines may temporarily run out depending on on-site registration status, so it is recommended to inquire by phone before visiting.
The vaccination date can be selected from the 7th of next month onward, and the second dose date will be automatically set at a 21-day (3-week) interval after the first dose. After completing the second dose and passing 14 days, you will be recognized as fully vaccinated.
The third dose can be administered starting three months after completing the second dose.
Those who received their first dose with Novavax will also receive their second and third doses with the same vaccine.
However, if a doctor determines for medical reasons (such as contraindications or postponement) that a different vaccine is necessary (during preliminary examination), cross-vaccination is exceptionally possible.
Meanwhile, from the 14th to the 22nd, among about 1,300 first-dose recipients in the Jeju area, half, or 682 people, were vaccinated with the Novavax vaccine.
