[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education has selected 20 elementary schools this year for the playground space reorganization project called ‘Cham Joeun Noliteo’ (Really Good Playground).
‘Cham Joeun Noliteo’ is also a superintendent’s pledge project aimed at guaranteeing elementary school children’s right to play and securing places and times for play to improve quality of life.
The Office of Education selected 2 schools in 2019, 5 schools in 2020, and 9 schools in 2021, and this year selected 20 schools through a public contest. Each selected school will receive 50 million KRW to create playgrounds.
On the 22nd, a training session was held for the 20 schools selected this year to help staff understand the playground creation process.
Choi Min-jeong, a teacher at Beomseo Elementary School, which was established last year, served as an instructor and introduced the playground creation process and examples, including curriculum-linked promotion and methods for student and teacher participation, to create a play space led by students from the playground design stage.
The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year, and the playground creation process will be produced as a video for promotional purposes.
