KLPGA "Foreign Player Associate Membership Qualifying Tournament and Jump Tour Fully Open"
KLPGA Foreign Player Entry Barrier Eased, I-TOUR Members Retain Qualification Until Following Year "Expecting Global Tour"
[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] The Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) has lowered the barriers for foreign players to enter the domestic tour.
On the 21st, it announced that the qualifying tournament for associate members and the Jump (3rd tier) Tour, which were previously only open to Korean players, have been fully opened. Foreign players can now participate in KLPGA tournaments through the same channels as domestic players. The revised regulations will be applied starting this year. Foreign players have been active domestically through the International Qualifying Tournament (IQT). They competed against other foreign players to earn seed rights for the Dream (2nd tier) Tour and Jump Tour based on their performance.
KLPGA expanded the scope of domestic tour participation to provide more opportunities for foreign players who face difficulties entering the domestic scene. If they meet the qualifying score (within 237 strokes over 54 holes) in the associate member qualifying tournament, they are granted the right to participate in the Jump Tour seed tournament and the full member qualifying tournament. If they compete in the full member qualifying tournament and achieve the standard score (within 222 strokes over 54 holes), they are granted the same status as KLPGA full members and can enter the Dream Tour seed tournament or the regular tour seed tournament.

Just like domestic players, foreign players can also participate directly in the Jump Tour seed tournament without going through the associate member qualifying tournament. If they receive promotion privileges based on the qualifying tournament and their performance, they join as I-TOUR members and maintain their status until December 31 of the following year. The number of players selected and promoted as I-TOUR members does not affect the selection of domestic players. KLPGA expressed expectations that "this regulation change will help solidify our position as a global tour."
