From mid-February to the end of March, Busan City will use LG Electronics' digital billboards in two locations, New York and London, to conduct global promotions for hosting the 2030 World Expo in Busan.
The digital billboards operated by LG Electronics are located in Times Square, Manhattan, New York City, a major landmark with an average daily foot traffic of 1.5 million people, and Piccadilly Circus, the busiest shopping district in central London, where global companies broadcast large-scale advertisements.
The video to be showcased is "The Panoramic-Haeundae" by media art artist Lee Sang-won, which was screened on the large digital billboard at Dubai Mall, the largest shopping center in Dubai City.
The video can be viewed on Busan Metropolitan City's official YouTube channel, "Bussan News."
The city expects this promotion to be a great opportunity to actively convey Busan City's determination to host the 2030 World Expo to the citizens of New York and London.
Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, said, "We will actively demonstrate Busan City's will to host the Expo in New York and London to strengthen our bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo."
Mayor Park added, "I also express my gratitude to LG Electronics for their consideration in allowing us to promote the 2030 Busan Expo in global metropolitan cities. Since corporate participation and roles are important in the 2030 Busan World Expo, I hope that domestic companies with global competitiveness will continue to take the lead and actively engage in hosting activities."
At the end of last year, LG Electronics supported Busan City by providing the "LG CLOi GuideBot," a guide robot, for promotional use targeting citizens within the Busan City Hall building.
