[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] As the Beijing Winter Olympics came to a close, concerns have been raised about the possibility of provocations by North Korea. The Ministry of Unification stated that it is closely monitoring North Korea's movements.
On the 21st, Lee Jong-joo, spokesperson for the Ministry of Unification, said at a regular briefing regarding the possibility of North Korea resuming military demonstrations, "We will not make assumptions about North Korea's future actions but will closely monitor related developments and prepare for all possibilities."
He also emphasized, "We will do our best to manage the situation on the Korean Peninsula peacefully," and urged North Korea once again to "choose the path of dialogue and cooperation for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula."
