Integrated Water Management Forum Held... Four Academic Societies Collaborate
[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Dongwoo Lee] The Korea Environment Corporation under the Ministry of Environment announced on the afternoon of the 21st that it will hold a 'Integrated Water Management Future Vision Forum' discussion at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jung-gu, Seoul.
This discussion is jointly hosted by four academic societies including the Korean Society of Water Environment, the Korean Society of Water and Wastewater, the Korean Water Resources Association, and the Korean Society of Agricultural Engineers to establish future strategies that the public can empathize with in the era of integrated water management.
Chairman Byeongok An of the Korea Environment Corporation, Chairman Jaeyoung Heo of the National Water Management Committee, Younggi Lee, Director of Water Management Policy at the Ministry of Environment, along with forum members and experts from various fields are expected to attend both in-person and online.
The topic of the discussion is 'Water Management Tasks Satisfactory to the Public and the Role of Public Institutions,' with presentations and discussions by forum members.
Specifically, by division, the forum will introduce ▲ Directions for integrated water management in the carbon-neutral era of integrated water management, ▲ Water infrastructure - digital twin of the water industry and reform of water management infrastructure based on machine learning and deep learning, ▲ National water management implementation plan for groundwater and alternative water resources and groundwater environmental management measures, ▲ Water environment sector of national and watershed plans and the role of the Korea Environment Corporation.
The discussion will include Kim Kyungmin, Legislative Research Officer of the National Assembly, Sangjin Lee, Director of Water Environment Policy at the Ministry of Environment, Hosik Lee, President of the Korean Society of Water Environment, Geonha Kim, President of the Korean Society of Water and Wastewater, Hyunseok Shin, Vice President of the Korean Water Resources Association, along with Jaeun Shin, former Director of Ecological Conservation at the Korean Federation for Environmental Movements, and Myungsoo Baek, Director of the Citizen Environmental Research Institute. Academia and civil society will participate to establish a 'future water management strategy that satisfies the public.'

Chairman An stated, "Through the Integrated Water Management Future Vision Forum, we will design future water management strategies in a direction where 'water management that the public can feel,' 'water management that can respond to climate change and carbon neutrality,' as well as 'restoration of aquatic ecosystem health and fostering of the water industry' are realized."
