Russia Launches Investigation into Reports of Ukrainian Shell Explosion Within Its Territory
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] The Russian Federal Investigative Committee has launched an investigation following reports in domestic media that a shell fired by Ukrainian forces exploded within Russian territory near the Ukraine border, major foreign news agencies reported on the 19th.
The committee stated on its website that there were reports of a Ukrainian military shell exploding about 1 km from the Ukraine border in the Rostov region.
Earlier, Russian news agencies RIA Novosti and TASS cited an anonymous police source saying, "The shell exploded at 4 a.m. (Moscow time) about 300 meters from a house in the Tarasovsky area of Rostov," and that local residents reported the incident to the police.
