On the 18th, the Gangbuk Police Station in Seoul arrested a man in his 50s, identified as A, on the spot for violating the Public Official Election Act after damaging Lee's banner hung on a street in Gangbuk-gu around 5:30 PM the previous day. It was reported that A set fire to the candidate's banner using a lighter.
A police official stated, "We are investigating A's motive for the crime while he remains out of custody."
