On the 18th, according to the county, the first meeting of the TF team supporting Kumho Tire Co., Ltd.'s Gwangju factory relocation to Hampyeong was held to discuss administrative support matters necessary for the factory relocation.
The TF team consists of eight members, led by Vice County Governor Lee Byung-yong, including the Director of Planning and Audit Office, Director of Future Strategy Office, and Head of Job Economy Division.
The team was formed to discuss support measures related to Kumho Tire Co., Ltd.'s Gwangju factory relocation to Hampyeong and to explore plans for regional development.
At the meeting, various opinions were discussed, including ▲ the prompt promotion of the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH)'s worker residential complex (1,400 households) near the Bitgreen Industrial Complex ▲ expansion of the Haebo Agricultural and Industrial Complex for proactive industrial site response ▲ feasibility study for the creation of rural housing complexes in Nasan and Haebo-myeon ▲ and plans for cultivating special crops using waste heat.
In particular, under the premise that the relocation of Kumho Tire Co., Ltd.'s Gwangju factory to Hampyeong, along with the entry of high value-added industries such as complete vehicle, parts, and R&D related to the automobile industry including Gwangju Global Motors (GGM) factory, should lead to population inflow and regional co-growth, multifaceted measures were explored.
Vice County Governor Lee Byung-yong stated, “We will strive to attract good companies to the Bitgreen Industrial Complex, create a hinterland industrial complex that can expect synergy effects, and establish residential complexes where workers can settle. We will do our best to help Hampyeong, which has been an agricultural county, leap forward as an industrial city.”
Meanwhile, Kumho Tire Co., Ltd. paid the contract deposit for the factory relocation site to LH in January, and with Gwangju Metropolitan City also agreeing to the relocation of Kumho Tire's Gwangju factory to the Bitgreen Industrial Complex, the factory relocation to Hampyeong was confirmed.
