Extension of Local Tax Reduction Deadline to Overcome COVID-19
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is promoting a reduction in local taxes to alleviate the economic burden on residents, including small business owners, who are struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
Sancheong-gun announced on the 18th that it will give public notice of the "Partial Amendment to the Sancheong-gun Local Tax Reduction Ordinance."
This partial amendment includes extending the deadline for local tax reductions until the end of 2022 to ease the economic burden on business operators such as small business owners amid the ongoing spread of COVID-19 and economic recession.
As the validity period of the automobile tax reduction clause for vehicles owned by visually impaired persons expires, the reduction period will be extended. In addition, inconsistent citation clauses will be revised, and following amendments to the Local Tax Special Cases Act, the tax credit amount for electronic delivery and automatic transfer applicants will be increased from a maximum of 300 won to 500 won per tax bill.
The main contents include ▲ extension of deadlines due to the sunset of COVID-19 related measures ▲ extension of the reduction period for automobiles owned by visually impaired persons ▲ application rules to clarify the scope and timing of local tax reductions ▲ application rules related to reductions for overcoming the COVID-19 crisis.
Accordingly, the property tax reduction and reduction of penalties related to rent reductions for small business owners will be extended until the end of December this year. The deadline for the reduction of resident tax on business sites for corporations and individual business owners to overcome the COVID-19 crisis will be extended until the regular August installment levied this year, and the reduction period for automobiles owned by visually impaired persons will also be postponed until December 31, 2023.
