"Refusing Other Hospitals" 50-Year-Old Patient Wreaks Havoc with Weapon at Nursing Hospital in Gangseo-gu, Seoul
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A man in his 50s who refused transfer to another nursing hospital and went on a stabbing rampage was arrested by the police.
The Gangseo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 16th that they arrested Mr. A (56) on the spot for threatening visitors and staff with a weapon at a nursing hospital.
According to the police, Mr. A is suspected of wielding a weapon in the lobby of a nursing hospital in Gangseo-gu around 1:50 p.m. on the 14th, and threatening the police who responded after a hospital staff report (special intimidation).
At the time of arrest, Mr. A was not intoxicated but was confirmed to be suffering from a mental illness.
It was reported that Mr. A caused the disturbance saying, "I will not receive transfer treatment at another hospital."
