Three Remaining Members of Real Estate Sales Dormitory Abuse Gang Also Headed to Trial
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] Three additional employees of a real estate sales dormitory, accused of confining and subjecting a man in his 20s to cruel treatment, have also been brought to trial.
The Criminal Division 3 of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Lee Dong-gyun) announced on the 15th that they have indicted three individuals: Kim (22, detained), Choi (25, detained), and Won (22, not detained), all managers at the real estate sales dormitory in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo-gu, on charges including special imprisonment causing injury.
According to the prosecution, these three, along with four others including team leader Park (28), who was previously detained and indicted, are accused of causing serious injury to Kim (21), who tried to escape after enduring confinement and cruel treatment on the 7th floor of a villa at 10:08 a.m. on the 9th of last month, resulting in his fall and severe injuries.
The victim, Kim, entered the dormitory last September after seeing posts such as "Providing food and lodging for runaways" uploaded on social media by Won, the spouse of team leader Park.
Kim attempted to escape three times afterward but was repeatedly caught and returned. Investigations revealed that he was subjected to harsh treatment including head shaving, being doused with cold water, physical assault, and being bound with tape. On the day of the accident, he reportedly fell while trying to cross from the veranda to an external roof.
