4487 People Vaccinated on Novavax First Day... No Adverse Reactions Reported

The COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team announced on the 15th that, according to the vaccination status data by vaccine, the Novavax vaccine was administered to 4,185 people for the first dose, 81 for the second dose, and 221 for the third dose. This accounts for about 2.1% of the 214,984 people vaccinated in one day on the 14th.
Among the total 10,247 new first-dose recipients, 4,185 were vaccinated with the Novavax vaccine, accounting for about 41%. So far, no adverse reactions related to the Novavax vaccine have been reported.
The Promotion Team plans to administer the Novavax vaccine mainly to high-risk groups for COVID-19, such as immunocompromised individuals, residents and workers in nursing hospitals and facilities. Adults aged 18 and over who have not previously received a COVID-19 vaccine are also eligible for vaccination.
From the 14th, in-house and visiting vaccinations targeting high-risk groups in nursing hospitals and facilities began, and the general public can receive same-day vaccination at some designated delegated medical institutions at public health centers by reserving leftover vaccines via KakaoTalk or Naver or using the medical institution standby list until the 6th of next month.
From the 21st, advance reservations will be possible through the vaccine pre-booking website. The vaccination date can be selected from March 7 onward.
The Novavax vaccine is the fifth COVID-19 vaccine approved domestically, following AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Janssen, and Moderna. It is the first COVID-19 vaccine developed using a recombinant gene technology method, similar to hepatitis B or influenza vaccines. According to overseas clinical trials, those who completed the second dose showed about 90% effectiveness in preventing infection, and the effectiveness in preventing severe illness and death reached 100%.

Meanwhile, 615,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine individually contracted by the government with the U.S. pharmaceutical company Pfizer will arrive at Incheon Airport on the 16th.
