"Becoming a School You Want to Attend and Stay At" ... Ulsan Office of Education Launches Support for Vocational High School Employment Activation
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education has established the '2022 Ulsan Vocational Education Basic Plan' and is embarking on successful employment support through future-oriented vocational education.
This year, Ulsan Office of Education plans to increase student employment rates by focusing on strengthening communication with companies through CEO meetings, visits by the superintendent to companies, and joint meetings among industry, government, and academia.
The city education office will newly open customized training programs tailored to different groups, including low-experience and new teachers at vocational high schools and transferred general subject teachers, as a new project to enhance teachers' understanding of vocational education.
Support for welfare projects for students in rural and fishing villages will also be expanded to include subsidies for rented school bus fees.
Following support last year for Ulsan Industrial High School and Ulsan Technical High School, this year support will be extended to Ulsan Beauty Arts High School to alleviate the inconvenience of long-distance commuting for students at specialized rural high schools.
The Education Office Employment Support Center will expand and conduct AI interview training, NCS basic vocational competency enhancement, and adaptation improvement for field trainees, increasing the number of participants from 200 last year to 500 this year to strengthen students' employment capabilities.
Customized employment matching opportunities will also be expanded through job fairs.
Starting this year, for first-year students at specialized high schools and Meister high schools, leading schools will be operated for all vocational high schools to prepare for the full introduction of the vocational high school credit system.
Additionally, the office will actively support the priority introduction and stabilization of the high school credit system through expanding out-of-school education, supporting the creation of credit system-type school spaces, and operating specialized vocational education support teams.
To promote voluntary change and innovation at specialized high schools, a specialized high school innovation support project will also be implemented.
The project aims at four types based on community linkage: Type 1 for new student recruitment, Type 2 for reducing school dropout, Type 3 for improving employment rates, and Type 4 for fostering creative technical talents. This year, Ulsan Technical High School will be selected for Type 1, Ulsan Beauty Arts High School for Type 2, Ulsan Life Science High School for Type 3, and Ulsan Anywon High School for Type 3, with approximately 140 million KRW budget support per school.
On the 14th, the city education office provided guidance on various policies for vocational education aimed at nurturing future technical talents this year to about 50 vice principals and head teachers of vocational high schools.
For teachers unable to attend in person, a real-time remote meeting format was also conducted.
