The People’s Party announced Ahn’s top 10 pledges containing these points on the 13th.
The 5·5·5 New Growth Strategy involves fostering five super-gap technologies (display, secondary batteries, next-generation nuclear power SMR, hydrogen energy, and bio-industry) to create five global leading conglomerates on the scale of Samsung Electronics and to enter the world’s top five economic powers. To this end, Candidate Ahn plans to establish the position of 'Deputy Prime Minister for Science and Technology' and set up a Presidential National Future Strategy Committee, reorganizing government agencies to build a science and technology economic powerhouse.
For peaceful unification of the Korean Peninsula, he proposed a 'self-reliant, pragmatic, and peace-responsible diplomacy strategy.' The goals include a 'nuclear- and war-free Korean Peninsula' through denuclearization of North Korea and a 'coexisting South and North.' In response to military provocations such as resumption of nuclear tests or missile launches, he plans to respond firmly and principledly with the international community and establish a strong security posture by fostering a smart scientific military based on a semi-conscription system. He also intends to complete a Korean-style missile defense system and consider additional deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system.
Candidate Ahn holds the position that public pensions should be integrated for the future of youth. He aims to reform the unequal reality by promoting a unified pension system for ordinary citizens and public officials and to enact a 'Sustainable Integrated National Pension Act.'
Along with this, he promised to abolish COVID-19 operating hour restrictions for self-employed businesses and provide 150 trillion won in compensation for losses. In particular, since the application of the vaccine pass and operating hour restrictions for self-employed businesses constitute double regulation, he plans to abolish them and remove operating hour restrictions based on scientific criteria of density, proximity, and enclosure. He also plans to establish a 'COVID-19 Special Account' to secure stable funding for loss compensation for self-employed businesses and to legally mandate loss compensation when the government imposes business restrictions.
