Gwangju City "Apply for the Comfortable Maternity Leave Work Delegation Allowance"
Up to 2 Million KRW Support for Business Agents of Small Enterprises with Fewer Than 100 Employees
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan City Work-Family Balance Support Headquarters announced on the 13th that it will implement the ‘Small and Medium Enterprise Parental Leave Work Replacement Allowance Support’ project.
This project was established by Gwangju City in 2019 as the first in the nation to promote parental leave in small and medium enterprises. Until last year, it supported 70 people from 48 companies.
Through this, workers in local small and medium enterprises with poor conditions can comfortably take parental leave, and employees who replace them at work also consider the parental leave takers, contributing to the spread of a work-family balance culture in the workplace.
The support target is employees who replace the work of parental leave takers among workers in small and medium enterprises with fewer than 100 employees, excluding those newly hired as parental leave substitutes.
Applications for participation in this year’s project can be submitted from 9 a.m. on the 21st, by submitting the application form and required documents. The application form and required documents can be found on the websites of Gwangju City and the Work-Family Balance Support Headquarters.
The support amount is 200,000 KRW per month, up to a maximum of 2,000,000 KRW, if the work replacement period is 10 months or longer this year.
If the replacement period this year is less than 10 months, or if the work replacement started last year or will continue until next year, the support amount will be calculated separately.
Support is available for up to two people (100,000 KRW per month each) replacing the work of one parental leave taker, and the support funds are paid directly to the accounts of the work replacement employees.
However, the workplace must be an employment insurance business site of a small and medium enterprise with fewer than 100 employees that cannot hire substitute personnel due to company conditions and special circumstances, and must guarantee the employment of the parental leave taker and comply with maternal and paternal rights protection systems.
Lee Myungsoon, head of the Work-Family Balance Support Headquarters, said, “I hope the parental leave work replacement allowance support project will be of some help to companies, leave takers, and work replacements alike.”
