On the 13th, Candidate Yoon announced through 'Seok-yeol's Heart-Throbbing Promise' that he would "strengthen sports activities in elementary school after-school programs."
Candidate Yoon plans to support a '1 Student 1 Sport' initiative, allowing students to learn one sport through after-school programs. He intends to expand the range of options by developing various programs tailored to different levels from 1st to 6th grade and secure a maximum sports personnel pool to provide customized courses. Additionally, to ensure that participation in sports activities does not become a financial burden on families, supplementary measures such as providing free enrollment vouchers based on income criteria will be implemented.
Along with this, weekend and vacation programs like Sports Day and Sports Clubs will be expanded, and dedicated staff will be assigned to after-school programs to reduce teachers' workload and strengthen operational support.
According to the Policy Headquarters of Candidate Yoon's campaign, as of April 2019, there were 31,360 sports-related programs in elementary after-school schools, accounting for only 16% of the total 193,551 programs. It was also analyzed that many schools do not operate sports programs, making it insufficient for students to experience and learn sports outside the regular curriculum.
