K-Collection Records 1 Billion KRW Sales from SMEs in 50 Days
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] Global e-commerce platform Shopee Korea recorded sales of over 220 billion KRW last year by promoting support projects for domestic companies' overseas market entry in collaboration with government agencies and local governments.
Last year, Shopee Korea partnered with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Small and Medium Business Corporation to carry out joint logistics projects for online exports and direct online export support projects. In the joint logistics project for online exports, based on its logistics network, Shopee Korea supported about 400 companies to reduce logistics costs, resulting in a 3.5-fold increase in sales compared to the previous year.
In the direct online export support project, after discovering promising companies, Shopee Korea provided comprehensive export solutions including onboarding on Shopee, sales training, consulting, and marketing, enabling about 150 companies to achieve higher performance than their target sales.
Additionally, Shopee Korea, together with KOTRA, conducted the Global Online Marketplace Power Seller Development Project and the Global Media Commerce Project to support the entry of about 580 domestic consumer goods companies into the Southeast Asian market. In the Global Online Marketplace Power Seller Development Project, systematic marketing support was provided from onboarding training to large-scale promotional events and advanced marketing such as live commerce.
In the Global Media Commerce Project, overseas marketing using Hallyu content was supported for about 100 companies including Hallyu content PPL companies and related consumer goods companies. The total sales from projects in cooperation with KOTRA last year increased 3.6 times compared to the previous year.
Cooperation with local governments was also strengthened, signing MOUs with six institutions in the Incheon area, as well as Busan City and Gangwon Province, to promote education and marketing support and mega campaign-linked projects targeting local companies.
Shopee Korea planned various themed Korean Pavilion campaigns to help domestic companies smoothly enter the Southeast Asian market, utilizing Shopee in-app advertisements and social media channels. Opportunities for live commerce with local famous influencers were created to increase product visibility and sales. A total of 49 live broadcasts were conducted last year, achieving a total of 2.9 million views.
In the 'K-Collection' held in four regions?Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, and the Philippines?about 50 SMEs participated, recording sales of 1 billion KRW in 50 days.
