Hwang Daeheon (Korea National Sport University) advanced to the men's 500m quarterfinals at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. On the 11th, at the Beijing Capital Indoor Stadium in China, he crossed the finish line with a time of 40.971 seconds in Heat 6 of the men's 500m short track preliminaries. He finished second behind Abzal Azgaliev (Kazakhstan, 40.870 seconds), securing his spot in the quarterfinals. On the 13th, at the same venue, Hwang will compete again against Azgaliev for a place in the semifinals. He was placed in Heat 3 along with John-Henry Krueger (Hungary) and others.
