Jeju Coast Guard, Emergency Transfer of 60s Crew Member with Respiratory Distress
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] A crew member in his 60s who was working about 162 km southeast offshore from Seogwipo Port, Jeju City, complained of breathing difficulties and was urgently transported by the Jeju Coast Guard.
According to the Jeju Maritime Police Station on the 11th, at around 8:42 a.m., a report was received that crew member B, in his 60s, aboard fishing vessel A, which was operating about 162 km southeast offshore from Seogwipo Port, complained of breathing difficulties during net hauling operations and required urgent transport.
Upon receiving the report, the Jeju Coast Guard dispatched a 3,000-ton patrol vessel on duty in the jurisdiction area, arriving at the scene at around 11:45 a.m. The high-speed boat boarded crew member B from fishing vessel A, supplied oxygen, and is currently en route to Seogwipo Port.
The patrol vessel carrying crew member B is scheduled to dock at Seogwipo Port around 5 p.m., where the crew member will be handed over to a 119 ambulance waiting at the port.
Meanwhile, this year, the Jeju Coast Guard has transported a total of five emergency patients by patrol vessels and other means, and last year, a total of 45 emergency patients were transported, leading efforts to protect the lives of the public.
