Mayor Cho Gyu-il toured the construction site that day and thoroughly checked the safety measures in accordance with the Serious Accidents Punishment Act and other regulations.
Jinju City decided to designate the area as an urban planning road to expand urban infrastructure and invested 2.3 billion KRW in the section around Gajwa Daehwa Reneville Apartment, which has been experiencing traffic inconvenience due to the road not being developed. After completing compensation for the acquired land, construction began in August last year and is scheduled to be completed by the end of March.
The city plans to widen sections of the urban planning road where the narrow road width makes vehicle passing difficult, and create parking lots on the remaining land to alleviate traffic inconvenience for local residents. Additionally, acceleration and deceleration lanes are being installed at the connection to Jinju-daero to facilitate smooth vehicle traffic.
To resolve severe traffic congestion at Gaeyang Five-way Intersection, road expansion construction will also begin after land compensation for the undeveloped section of the urban planning road between the Forest Bio-material Research Institute and Gaeyang Five-way Intersection.
A city official who inspected the site said, “If the undeveloped urban planning roads are opened gradually, the residential environment in the city area will improve.”
